Relationships; necessity or option?

A woman's position in a relationship is often ridiculed by society, seeing us as the inferior, submissive 'house wife'. Then there's the other side of society that think there's something wrong with women who aren't 'house wife' material, you know uninterested, independent, bold, someone whose priorities and pursuits do not revolve around men.


It's all a bit too controversial in my opinion. You can't please anyone, but you can definitely be pleased with the decisions you make.

Escaping society's definition of 'beautiful'

We refer to society as a separate body, like it was formed out of something unknown to us, a foundation made from air and dust yet stands so boldly... chanting together, stereotyping and attaching negative connotations to anything that breathes.

We are 'society'.

We create these stereotypes, insecurities, and hate.

We are the same society that can create love, unity and hope...

When I was younger the only person I would need to tell me that I was beautiful enough was my mum. Nobody else's opinion mattered, no one else could validate the words that came from her mouth that created my truth. I was taught that beautiful did not solely consist of my exterior, it came from the inside of my head, and entity of my heart.

I was not fixated on how I appeared, but who I appeared to be. Am I an integral young girl? Can I do something for someone else to make them feel beautiful too?

'Dark skin girls are better'

It's 2017 and some girls are more than conscious of their skin tone, they are uncomfortable. Now they aren't uncomfortable because they are what they are, society has made them uncomfortable to be who they are. 

It's 2017 and some girls feel more privileged to be lighter skinned or darker skinned. It has become a competition to embrace what we were born with. 

Working for NCS The Challenge; new experiences, making a difference and living a little.

 After my second year of university, I thought, hmm, what am I going to do with my summer.
I wanted to work, yes, but I wanted to do something more me, more fulfilling than retail or tutoring.
My friend told me about NCS-National Citizen Service, The Challenge and I applied for it, went through interview processes and luckily had plans for the summer.

NCS-The Challenge is a government funded programme and an organisation that creates a summer scheme for 15-17 year olds, that aims to develop them for their next steps in life. It allows young people to have a fun time going on trips,  participating in activities, workshops, competitions, going to university halls and meeting a whole new range of people whilst building a skill where a qualified practitioner assists!
